Dear Members,

I hope you are enjoying your summer-like weather and having an opportunity to enjoy some of the great outdoors. New Brunswick members were the gracious hosts of the AIC national conference in Moncton. The conference provided great sessions, networking and interaction with fellow members.

Next year Ontario !!!

I would like to thank outgoing National President Grant Uba for the opportunity to meet with himself, Michael Mendela and George Lozano, along with the other Provincial Presidents, at the Presidents Dinner where we had the opportunity to discuss programs and issues from each of the provinces.

The Executive Directors joined us for further discussions later in the evening.

Peer Review was discussed at one of the sessions that I attended.

I urge our members to take part in this voluntary program that identifies CUSPAP and report completion.

It is a great resource for members and is intended to assist members in meeting or exceeding standards and decreasing their potential liability.

The Annual General Meeting was attended by several of our provincial members both in person and online. There was a lengthy and educational presentation on our Liability Insurance Program which discussed it governance and strengths. This presentation was well received and we thank National for the information.

A Motion of Direction was raised to the National Board to survey members to establish just how members feel about the use of the CRA by AACI’s when signing a report.

This will be considered by the National board and reported back to the members.

The Awards Luncheon celebrated the accomplishments of our volunteers at the Board and committee levels. Ontario member Robert Robson, AACI, P.App was recognized as a Fellow of the Appraisal Institute of Canada for his long service to the association and the profession.

Teranet and MPAC and AIC-ON, are in the final stages of the completion of the exciting new GeoWarehouse Multi-Property Search that better meets the needs of Ontario Appraisers.

This new product integrates the best parts of both GeoWarehouse and MPAC's Propertyline reports and offers tremendous functionality and cost savings to our industry.

The test pilot will roll out this August for the members to test and work with.

If you have any concerns or comments positive or negative please advise us as soon as possible.

The Board of Examiners AIC - ON held interviews last week, Congratulations to the following individuals who were successful in attaining their designations.

In recognition of the 40th Anniversary of the Ontario Association of the Appraisal Institute of Canada the Association instituted the President’s Award of Excellence.

I am pleased to announce that the first recipient of the award was Roland Mayr from Oshawa.

This award recognizes a designated member who has demonstrated significant contribution to the profession and the AIC (Ontario) community in such areas as leadership, AIC affairs, government, and promotion of the profession, research and education.

While Roly was unable to attend the AGM, we were able to present the award at an Oshawa/Durham Chapter meeting.

Congratulations Roly!!
